16 Across / 2003-2007 / Adelaide University
16 Across is a collection of 41 short stories, created as part of my PhD thesis investigating place, play and online fiction.
The crossword is shaped like the streets of Adelaide’s city centre, and each story takes place in the corresponding location, moving from early morning in the top left-hand corner down to late night in the bottom right. Where the words cross on the map, the stories, too, intersect; and the “answer” to each clue is the answer to the first question asked within its story.
