House Rules / 2019 - ongoing

House Rules is an ongoing project to collect stories of “house rules”: the different ways that people play familiar or commercial games, when playing with friends or family. Some of these are widespread: getting money for landing on Free Parking in Monopoly. Some of them are unique to their context. Either way, the aim of the project is to explore how players transform the formal rules of a game to fit their needs and context.

The rules are collected online, at the House Rules website, and at events from contributors, including Now Play This 2019, and JUMP festival in Waltham Forest.
