One Easy Step / 2016 / as part of Matheson Marcault
An installation designed to get people playing, responding to the space and moving in new ways, in the Quad at King’s College London as part of their Arts and Humanities Festival.
In the summer of 2016, we experimented by placing different small-scale prototypes in the Quad, and watching from the buildings above to see how people responded. We then developed the most successful of these interventions into a series of playful patterns inspired by the geometrical gardens that stood on the site hundreds of years ago, and added five mirrored plinths to reflect and magnify the installation. Each plinth provided a more explicit set of game rules and an invitation to play in the surrounding area.
